Occupational Therapy
"Occupational Therapy plays a key role in helping people of all ages overcome the effects of disability caused by accident, illness or aging; so they can carry out everyday tasks and occupations" (Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT), 2017).
Assessment
We use various types of assessments including interviews and observation, which are usually carried out in your own home. We take a holistic approach and assess physical ability, cognition, emotional and social wellbeing, and your environment.
Neurological
Rehabilitation
We use neuro-rehabilitative approaches, aiming to improve cognitive functions (such as memory, planning & organising, coping skills, and adjustment) and physical retraining (such as balance, coordination, range of movement, fine motor skills). Specialist equipment or assistive technology may be recommended to overcome physical barriers and to increase independence. Energy conservation techniques are recommended to manage pain, fatigue, and re-integration into community activities.
Functional
Rehabilitation
We consider your physical environments such as your home, work or local community and the social or emotional support that you need. The provision of specialist equipment and teaching new ways of doing everyday tasks can help to overcome physical and psychological barriers.
Vocational Rehabilitation
We can provide vocational rehabilitation for clients with a range of difficulties. This identifies if the worker is able to match the demands of the job, both physically and cognitively. This determines one's ability to conduct their job safely, return to work or gain new employment.
Housing, Equipment & Access
If your home is no longer suitable for your needs, we can assess and provide a report recommending specialist equipment, adaptations, and access.
Seating, Specialist Wheelchairs, Postural Care
We can advise and help source various seating and postural management solutions that are effective and comfortable and liaise with specialist suppliers where necessary. The correct seating can contribute to your health and wellbeing.
Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles
We can assess vehicles for suitability and liaise with providers such as Motability and external seating specialists to provide bespoke solutions to your specific needs.
